Here are some tips I read in my local “CitiScapes” magazine. Add these basic tasks to your everyday routine and you’ll be thinking like an organizer in no time
- Make your bed every day - With a partner, it’s even four times faster. Make it part of your children’s routine as well. The bed is the first thing we see when entering a bedroom, and an unmade bed plays psychological havoc on our peace of mind. It’s an excellent way to train children to love order while they’re young.
- Do one load of laundry every day - This adds only a few minutes to your daily routine, leaving your weekend free of that mountain of dirty laundry.
- Plan your meals ahead of time - Planning what you’ll have for dinner each morning will save yourself wasted time standing in front of the open refrigerator wondering what to cook that evening.
- Clean the kitchen after dinner - As inspiration, continue your dinner conversation or put on some music. Make it a family project.
- Straighten the living room before going to bed - Get everyone involved for 10 minutes. Putting it off for another time is how the clutter creates a life of its own.
- Choose what you’ll wear the next day before going to bed - You’ll save previous time not making that decision during the morning rush.
- Create a bedtime routine for the whole family - Explain to your children what “It’s time for bed” includes: putting their clothes in the hamper, changing into their pajamas, selecting clothes for the next day, and brushing their teeth.
- Keep a notepad next to your bed - It’ll help remind you of the things you think of before falling asleep. In the morning, add the list to your day planner.
These are some great suggestions of small things you can add to your daily routines to be more organized and get more done.
