Setting goals to organize your future [Opinion]
Posted by Phillip Burger in Mental, Opinions on March 13th, 2009
For the brief amount of posts we have published so far, the recurring theme has been about using planning as a means to become organized. Anything from the to-do list to wedding planning can help you to become an overall more organized person. I truely believe that these same organization skills can be applied to the larger picture, your future. There are 3 areas of goal setting that I feel can really help you to organize your future and accomplish anything you can put your mind to:
- Financial
- Career
- Life
[Idea] More Advanced - Pocketmod.com

I assume by now you have mastered the basic to-do list. I have found a great online resource for a more advanced to-do list: Pocketmod - The Free Recyclable Personal Organizer (http://www.pocketmod.com). This is a great invention and you have to try out their website to see it in action. You customize an 8-page to-do list with lists, calendars, games, financial planners, etc., then you print it out and fold it up to fit in your pocket.

Wedding Organization from an Expert
Posted by Rachel Welland in Ideas, Opinions, Personal on March 10th, 2009
Hello Cyberspace, welcome to My First Blog Post Ever. I am honored to have been invited to participate in the “On Organization” blog and consider it quite a compliment to be asked to contribute to a blog with the theme of Organization. I consider myself a natural organizer… I am addicted to my dayplanner, wireless device, and routines! I am lucky to have a career that I absolutely love — I am Owner and Wedding & Event Coordinator for Bliss Events in San Diego, California (www.blissevent.com). My job requires a very high level of organization and attention to detail.
I thought my first blog post should be about what I do each and every day…. wedding planning! Here are the first few steps in wedding planning. Once a Bride & Groom get these major tasks done, they are ready to move on to the more detailed parts of wedding planning:
- Create, revise, and finalize Guest List. Get input from both of your parents in order to get an accurate count.
- Set an overall wedding budget. What exactly does this include or not include? (i.e. does it not include your rings, honeymoon, rehearsal dinner, etc.?)
- Pick some date options…. ideally you can be open-minded about the date, having 3-5 options… this will make your “venue hunt” much easier if you are flexible with your wedding date.
- Determine what your priorities are - this will help you allot your overall budget. Make an actual list so you can see what is #1, #2,#3, etc. (Is photography the most important thing to you? Do you have to have live music, a large band with all the bells & whistles? Is decor and florals top on your list?) This “priorities list” is the order in which you should start to book your vendors. That way, if you splurge on #1 and #2, you can take money away from the lower-ranked priorities and still stay on-budget.
…. And that is all the wisdom I am going to share for now! Look for future posts from me on weddings and other life-organization subjects.

[Idea] 8 Tips For Helping You Get Organized
Posted by Phillip Burger in Home, Ideas, Mental, Personal on March 9th, 2009
Here are some tips I read in my local “CitiScapes” magazine. Add these basic tasks to your everyday routine and you’ll be thinking like an organizer in no time
- Make your bed every day - With a partner, it’s even four times faster. Make it part of your children’s routine as well. The bed is the first thing we see when entering a bedroom, and an unmade bed plays psychological havoc on our peace of mind. It’s an excellent way to train children to love order while they’re young.
- Do one load of laundry every day - This adds only a few minutes to your daily routine, leaving your weekend free of that mountain of dirty laundry. Read the rest of this entry »

[Idea] The Basics - To-Do List
Posted by Phillip Burger in Ideas, Mental on March 4th, 2009
Okay, so the first post grabbed your attention and you are willing to give it a shot - you are ready to get organized. That is excellent, but slow down a bit. Even though I would always suggest to give everything a wholehearted effort and really put yourself into it, I am going to suggest to start this one a little slow so you can start to see results quickly.
Here are the basics of organization to help lead you to get more things done in the same amount of time we all have in the day: The To-do List
[Opinion] To be organized. Nature vs. Nurture
Posted by Phillip Burger in Mental, Opinions, Personal on March 3rd, 2009
Nature vs. Nurture definition (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nature_versus_nurture):
The nature versus nurture debates concern the relative importance of an individual’s innate qualities (”nature”) versus personal experiences (”nurture”) in determining or causing individual differences in physical and behavioral traits.
The question relating to On Organization is: Does a person become organized and task oriented because of innate qualities or because of personal experiences. Basically, can someone teach themselves to be organized or will a disorganized person just always be that way?
